Ka Puta Ka Ora – Emerge Aotearoa Housing Trust provides quality social housing for families and individuals on low incomes who would otherwise struggle to access suitable accommodation.

The Kimpton Road development delivers 14 one-bedroom homes, tenanted through the Housing Register, with all residents eligible for income-related housing support. The project increases the supply of warm, secure housing and supports residents to move from transitional accommodation into long-term, stable homes.

Designed by TOA Architects and built by Signature Homes, the development replaces outdated 1950s flats with purpose-built homes that meet current accessibility, energy efficiency, and durability standards, contributing to the long-term resilience of Emerge Aotearoa’s housing portfolio.

Each unit is approximately 50 m², with three ground-floor homes designed for accessibility, incorporating accessible designed kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces. All homes include a private courtyard or balcony and are fitted with heat pumps, supporting healthy, energy-efficient living.

Local Tainui kaumātua, through Toimai Katipa and Mere Komene, gifted the name Toitoi Manawa to the development, meaning flourishing abundance, reflecting the project’s focus on wellbeing, stability, and positive outcomes for residents and the wider community.
