NZ Police D500 - National Facilities Rollout

The NZ Police D500 programme is a Government-funded initiative to increase frontline police capacity through the delivery of new training and operational facilities to support the deployment of 500 additional officers nationwide.

The programme includes a mix of off-site manufactured and traditional construction projects, including modular facilities manufactured offshore, modular buildings delivered by Portacom NZ, and a new purpose-built police station in Taradale. Off-site manufacturing has been adopted to accelerate delivery, improve programme and cost certainty, and minimise disruption to operational policing.

The Taradale Police Station is a two-storey, purpose-built facility designed to accommodate up to 50 staff. The building is being manufactured by Niche Group at their Petone facility, with site works underway and on-site assembly planned to commence in early 2026.

PJM is providing construction delivery programme management across the D500 programme, along with project management and quantity surveying services on a number of the individual facilities. The role covers programme planning, staging and sequencing, cost control, delivery coordination, and stakeholder management across a complex, multi-project national rollout.

The focus of the programme is on maintaining delivery certainty, managing interfaces between multiple projects and suppliers, and ensuring facilities are delivered to support operational requirements.
